Parties are fun, fun for adults and fun for kids. A big trending theme for kids parties these days is "How to Train Your Dragon" by Dreamworks. The premise behind the movie is forging your own path, not conforming to what society around you wants to do, and ultimately training dragons instead of slaying them. If you want to throw an epic "How To Train Your Dragon" party, simply follow these steps. As you may know from watching the tv show or the movies that a big part of "How to Train Your Dragon" is becoming a dragon trainer. So as the guests show up you can have it so that they arrive for dragon training and if they become successful in their tasks then they will leave the party as qualified dragon trainers. Crafting Activities As the guests arrive at the party have them sit down and make their shield. The dragon trainers in the first movie are told that shields are an essential part of fighting dragons, so you can't skip this. Things you will need:
Steps to making the shield: Have the guests decorate the shield with either the sharpies or stickers (or both) and use the duct tape for the strap where the guests hold the shield. Take two pieces of tape one piece about 8 inches long and one piece about 5 inches long. Put the two pieces of tape together sticky side in and put the two ends of the long piece of tape on the plate to create a place for the guests to hold the shield. Party Hard, Play Harder To become fully qualified dragon trainers, the guests have to complete several training exercises. First have the guests create foam “dragons” that they can fly through rings of fire. Each guest had to stand a set distance from hula hoops and launch the dragons to try to get them through a ring of fire (hula hoop). After this you can have a Dragon Trainer obstacle course. I divided the guests into two teams. Set up an obstacle course around the place where you are having the event with simple obstacles for them to perform. They have to wield their foam swords and shield, and make their way through an obstacle course. Next you can give each guest a can of silly string and have them seek out dragons hiding around the place of event. Print out pictures of some dragons from How to Train your Dragon and they have to find 10 dragons to spray with silly string in 5 minutes. Once the guests successfully navigate all of the dragon training exercises, they become full fledged dragon trainers and they get to become owners of dragon stuffed animals. Eat Like A Dragon Trainer A main component of parties is serving food for your guests. When it comes to children, the type of food served does not have to be complex, just dress up ordinary snacks and use cool names that go with the theme! Cupcakes/cake: Ask a local bakery if they have "How to Train Your Dragon style" cake or cupcakes available to order, or if you prefer you can make your own cake and use decorations that you purchase on your own. Dragon Fire Balls: Cheese puffs in a decorated jar Dragon Teeth: Bugles in a jar Dragon food: Multi flavored goldfish in a jar Set The Stage Decorations are an important part of drawing your guests into the party theme. In order to set the mood and inspire your guests to get into the party, these are the things you will need:
